Rudas Spa

Hello! I’m Kitti, a tour guide in Budapest, and if you’ve already decided to explore this beautiful city, let me help you to make your visit truly memorable! I don’t want you to just tick off the must-see sights, I want you to feel the vibe of Budapest – that unique, vibrant yet historic atmosphere that makes people want to come back again and again.

And while you’re at it – let me take you on a journey to a place that I think is unmissable. And that is the Rudas Spa.

Rudas is not just a spa, it’s time travel, a spectacular orgy and total relaxation. If you’ve ever wondered what it was like to bathe centuries ago – say, in Turkish times – this is the place where you can not only imagine it, but experience it. The Turkish domed section dates back to the 16th century, and as soon as you enter you’re immediately drawn into the special, slightly mystical atmosphere. Sitting around the octagonal pool, you can feel the weight of history and the caressing warmth of the thermal water.

But don’t think it’s just a “museum bath”! One of its biggest attractions (and I’m personally a total sucker for it) is the panoramic rooftop pool. Imagine sitting under the stars in the evening, in a nice warm water, with the lights of the city shining at your feet – there’s Elisabeth Bridge, Gellért Hill, the Danube… it’s not just a sight, it’s a feeling. A “wow” moment that you’re guaranteed to remember forever.

The wellness area has everything you need to refresh yourself: saunas, steam room, massage – you name it. Plus, if you like to spice up your spa experience with a little something extra, don’t miss the Rudas restaurant – you won’t believe the view of the Danube with a glass of wine in hand.

What else I love about Rudas is its diversity. If you’re looking for quiet relaxation, you’ve got it. If you’re looking for a more lively, evening swim – for example, with night-time opening Friday to Saturday – it’s perfect for that too. Everyone can find their own rhythm.

So if you’re only visiting one spa in Budapest, Rudas should be it. But of course, I’m hoping you’re not just coming for one day – because I’ve got plenty more up my sleeve.

If you’re curious about my favourite café, a hidden ruin pub or the best view in the city – stay tuned for my next article! Until then: don’t just see Budapest, experience it!

Kisses, Kitti 🧡
